I am currently taking on a limited number of editing projects -- prose manuscripts only (short stories, essays, memoirs, novels, other nonfiction). Sorry, no poetry.

In a standard manuscript review, I look first for narrative momentum and structural cohesion, identifying any problems with pacing, tension, point-of-view, and other aspects of clear and compelling storytelling. Then I examine the quality of the prose, weighing the work's lyrical strengths against any language that detracts. My goal is to help you tighten and hone the story you're telling.

*The standard MS Review does not include the nitty-gritty of copyediting or line editing, although I am happy to look at manuscripts needing those services. Please indicate which review is your preference.

1-25 pgs..... $5.00 per standard double-spaced manuscript page
26-100 pgs... $4.50 per page
101-200 pgs.. $4.00 per page
201-300 pgs.. $3.50 per page
301-400 pgs.. $3.00 per page
As a former editor and publicist of a small press, Sheryl Monks has helped writers tighten and hone their manuscripts for publication. She has written press releases and prepared media kits. She's coordinated book tours, secured book reviews in major newspapers and magazines, and garnered blurbs for book jackets. She has set up interviews, planned launch parties, and prepped writers for handling themselves in a variety of situations -- from appearances at readings and booksignings to formal interviews on television and radio to conducting workshops and speaking on panels.
